About

 Message from the Vicar

Holywell has an ancient history as a place of pilgrimage and healing, and St Winifred's Well stands as a witness to the countless generations who have come here to seek the healing, strengthening and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Today, over 1500 years later, our three churches continue this story and are home to a vibrant Christian family, united in love and service. We hope this website gives you a glimpse into our life - please do get in touch if there's anything more you'd like to know. I know that you'll receive a warm welcome to any of our services or events.

Our mission is to reach out to people of all ages and backgrounds in and around Holywell and Greenfield with the life-changing message of God's love and power, and to help them take the next steps on the path of following Jesus and to receive his gift of 'life in all its fullness'. On this page, you can read our priorities as a group of churches, and there's more detail on the rest of the website.

Every blessing,

Fr Dominic OGS

The Six Priorities of our Churches

Worship

We want our church communities to offer beautiful and creative worship for all ages which inspires us to go out and live the good news we have received. Through reflective midweek celebrations of the Eucharist, beautiful traditional services, and vibrant and creative contemporary worship, we seek to draw others into fellowship with God and to give God worthy praise for all he has done for us.

Fellowship

We believe that our baptism makes us one family in which we learn to love one another as Christ loved us. Our fellowship is expressed through pastoral care for one another, that the whole church may be built up in love.

Discipleship

Being a disciple means being a follower of Jesus and a life-long learner. We are committed to providing opportunities for people of all ages to explore their faith and to grow more and more into the likeness of Christ.

Evangelism

We believe that Jesus came to seek and save the lost. We heed Christ's great commission to share his love with the world. We look for the opportunity to invite people of all ages and backgrounds to come and join us. We want to be a church that exists to serve the One who left the 99.

Service

We believe that the Holy Spirit prepares us to work for the building of God's kingdom. We want our church communities to respond creatively to God's call to serve the community in which we live in practical ways.

Mission Area

We don't walk the Christian journey alone, God gives us companions for the journey. We are committed to working with the other 11 churches in our Mission Area to build up and transform our communities under God.

Two Prayer for our Church Communities

Father, pour out your Spirit upon our church communities

and grant us a new vision of your glory,

a new experience of your power,

a new faithfulness to your word,

and a new consecration to your service,

that your love may grow among us,

and your Kingdom come:

through Christ our Lord. Amen.

God of Mission,

who alone brings growth to your Church,

send your Holy Spirit
to give vision to our planning,
wisdom to our actions,
and power to our witness.
Help our church to grow in numbers,
in spiritual commitment to you,
and in service to our local community,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

We are part of the Diocese of St Asaph

Our Churches are part of the wider family of churches known as the Diocese of St Asaph. A diocese is an ancient unit under the oversight of a bishop, who is responsible for the life and mission of the church in the diocese. Our Diocese contains over 200 churches and almost 60 church schools stretching over most of North and Mid Wales.

Our bishop is the 79th Bishop of St Asaph, Bishop Gregory Cameron.
